Sri Lankan fishermen use long lines of 100 hooks per boat at depths of 50 to 75 meters.
These small boats usually have a crew of 2. They set out around 03.00 in the morning and go 20 to 25 km from the shore
where the lines are deployed and periodically checked; the catch is hauled out manually. The average weight is 45 Kg per fish.
Fishing is over by noon.
Processing is done in the afternoon and shipping by air in the night.

Maldivian fishermen catch Groupers while snorkeling, swimming above their intended prey and dangling a baited hook just in front of its mouth. Around the atolls, fishermen swim off from one boat, each towing a floating basket behind in which they keep their catch alive. This fishery is very selective in the sense that it only removes fish of commercial interest, resulting in little waste. The fishermen bring the Live Fish i.e. Groupers to our AeroSeafood Floating Holding stations.

Holding Live Groupers (Marble, Trout, Mixed), Snappers, Emperors in our cages-stations is definitely the best option for supplying customers with very Fresh Fish on a regular basis. Fish is caught ahead of time. It is fed on chopped fresh small fish every day : a maintenance diet to prevent weight loss. It can be readily dipped out as needed.
