 Somas-Stamp River System.
 - The weather has been wonderful over the past week has made fishing on the Stamp River just a wonderful place to be. Barkley Sound and the Port Alberni Inlet salmon fishing have pretty well been over for the 08 season for sometime. Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - Panfish remain aggressive throughout much of our area providing anglers with exciting action as they target these tasty critters. .... 6th October 2008

 - Sport fishing in the area for charter guides and sport fisher persons has been much better up until the middle of September than what it was at the end of August and during the Port Alberni Salmon Derby which took place at the beginning of September. The big rains the last two weeks of August moved a lot of Chinook and Coho into various rivers and creeks.....  24th September 2008

 - The salmon fishing in the Inlet has been very difficult for the sport fisherman. There are loads of salmon especially in the upper portion of the harbor but there just does not seem to be a bite.....  12th September 2008

 Stamp River Falls and are reporting many salmon moving up through the ladders. Hopefully the weather will dry and the Chinook and Coho will stay in the Inlet for a bit longer which will again create a very good fishery.....  27th August 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - Small jigs tipped with live bait or soft plastic trailers are both continuing to work. Large numbers of crappies are suspended throughout the river channels and main basins .... 26th August 2008

The summer of 2008 has had phenomenal salmon and halibut fishing in Barkley Sound and the water off of Ucluelet. To date most of the Chinook and Coho salmon have been migratory fish making their way down the coastline of Vancouver Island....  17th August 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - As the “dog days” of summer have reached us here in the North-Central Wisconsin (Wausau) area, fishing has remained good for a variety of species; low-light periods have continued to hold a strong bite, but plenty of fish are available during mid day as well. .... 8th August 2008

Salmon and halibut fishing in the area continues to be reasonably good, especially offshore. Chinook and Coho in Barkley Sound areas have slowed down although some days have great bites and other days are slower....  7th August 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - Beautiful weather in North-Central Wisconsin has been the perfect complement to the excellent fishing in the Wausau area as of late. Novice and experienced anglers alike have been enjoying some fine angling opportunities for both bluegill and crappie.  .... 24th July 2008

The salmon fishing in the area of Port Alberni, Barkley Sound, and Ucluelet continues to be very good. The weather has been wonderful and but for a few days in the past ten the fishing areas...  24th July 2008

The salmon fishing in this area of Vancouver Island continues to be very good. The past week has seen some great weather but also some very strong outflow winds. There is some great salmon fishing still along the beach out of the Ucluelet Harbor. The reports out at the Big Bank are fantastic for Chinook and Halibut.  16th July 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - With a variety of species to choose from, the North-Central Wisconsin area is one of the finest fishing destinations in the Midwest! Some nice panfish, including slab crappies and jumbo bluegills, are finding their way into local livewells. Minnows, small leeches, and night crawlers are all working, as are small jig and rubber combinat .... 11 July 2008

he salmon fishing in the Barkley Sound and Ucluelet areas has been very good. June ended with some of the best fishing of the year and perhaps the best over the last couple of years, especially in the Sound. The Chinook have been ranging in size from 10 to 25 pounds.  4th July 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - Hot summer temperatures have arrived, and with them the exceptional fishing the greater Wausau area has to offer. A host of species are active right now with something for everyone available! Downed timber has been a magnet for panfish as of late. .... 27 June 2008

The salmon fishing in Barkley Sound has been very good. Migratory fish swimming down the outside of Vancouver Island have been coming into feed on the rich bait fish in the Sound. Late last week and into the weekend and early part of this week many guides and sport fishermen were picking up limits of Chinook salmon.  26 June 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - Despite above average rainfall and some cooler temperatures, muskies have been quite active in the Wausau area with big fish having been caught and released as of late including a stocky 50 ¼” specimen. Bucktails have continued to produce action from both muskies and pike with bright/dark contrasting colors seeming to produce best.... 17 June 2008

June has been a great month of fishing for sport anglers and salmon fishing charter guides off of Ucluelet and in various areas of Barkley Sound. To date most of the Ucluelet fishing for both salmon and halibut has been fairly close to the beach. Barkley Sound salmon fishing has been best from Vernon Bay out to Effingham. The Port Alberni Inlet is quiet but Sockeye Salmon are entering the Somass River daily and making their way through the counters and entering Sproat Lake and Great Central Lake.  17 June 2008

Maury River Fishing Report  - Fished the Maury River on 5/29 and caught 60+ smallmouth on wacky rigged , weightless senkos and 5" finess worms with an 1/8 oz spot remover hook. The best color is green pumpkin as it is a natural color that works very well in clear water.....  JUNE 2008

Wausau, Central Wisconsin Area - The best action has come from shallower water containing weeds or wood in close proximity to the shoreline. Points, especially those extending further out into the lake or river and adjacent to shallow bays and backwaters are also holding fish.

June and July are great sport fishing months along the West Coast. The migratory fish returning to the south of this area should be in great numbers as commercial fisheries in Alaska have been cut by 50%. This will put more salmon swimming in B.C. waters.  5 June 2008
