Malaysian Fisheries Society

The Malaysian Fisheries Society is a professional society which was officially registered on 13th August 1987. The objectives of the Society are to advance knowledge on all aspects of fisheries and related activities with particular reference to Malaysia and the neighbouring region so as to foster rational development and management of aquaculture, capture fisheries and related activities for food, recreation and conservation. The Society does this through organisation of meetings, seminars and forums and through its various publications.

Department of Fisheries Sabah - our organisational vision is To be recognised as the leader in the State of Sabah in the sustainable management of fisheries, aquaculture and the aquatic environment; and as the premiere lead agency in bringing about and delivering development to fishermen, fish farmers and the members of the wider fisheries community in Sabah.

 

Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) is a non-profit scientific society founded in 1984 by fishery professionals in Asia. The society aims at promoting networking and co-operation between scientists, technicians and all stakeholders involved in fisheries (including aquaculture) production, research and development in Asia. Its ultimate objective is to enhance food security and income generating opportunities for fisheries workers via sound management practices, environmentally sustainable development and efficient utilization of the aquatic resources. More information on the objectives, highlight, past and present activities of the Society are given in the subsequent sections.

The ASC's mission is to transform aquaculture towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility using efficient market mechanisms that create value across the chain.
