have produced a strategy and action plan for the
Shetland seafood industry.
Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group -
The Scottish
Shellfish Marketing Group is the UK's premier
producer of finest quality shellfish, supplying
supermarkets, wholesalers and restaurants with
mussels, oysters and scallops farmed from the
crystal clear waters of sheltered sea lochs located
along the full length of the West coast of Scotland.
The Charr Network - Through this site you
will be able to investigate the research, the
commercial exploitation and the natural history of
the Arctic Charr / Char across the EU area.
University of Stirling Institute of Aquaculture
- the Institute of Aquaculture is the leading
international centre in its field and is the largest
of its kind in the world. Graded 5 in the
2001 RAE, we bring together cross-disciplinary,
world class researchers to meet the wide range of
challenges faced as aquaculture grows to meet global
demands. Research focuses on fundamental questions
relating to strategies for sustainable aquaculture,
whether in modern commercial markets or in feeding
poor communities in developing countries.
Fundamental research on environments, reproduction,
genetics, aquatic health, nutrition and feed
supplies, on production systems, on markets, and on
social and economic impacts all play significant
roles.
Fishing4Info - The original Fishing for
Information service was launched in 1995 by John
Bostock of Stirling Aquaculture, and quickly became
one of the most comprehensive site listings for
aquaculture and related aquatic science. The
interface was revised in 1998 and links have been
added and updated by Stirling Aquaculture staff
whenever possible. In 2004, Stirling Aquaculture
partnered with Aqua TT to develop a new
database-driven interface and to enable more
frequent updating of internet links
Shellfish Association of Great Britain (SAGB)
- We were founded as the Oyster Merchants’ and
Planters’ Association in 1903 and renamed in 1969.
The SAGB is the Shellfish industry’s trade body and
we are based at Fishmongers’ Hall, which is also
home to the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers, in
the City of London. Shellfish farmers, groups of
fishermen, commercial traders and companies, the
Seafish Industry Authority, consultants and many of
the Sea Fisheries Committees are members.
