Aquaculture Association of South AfricaPretoria, South
Africa. was established in the late
1980's in order to represent the interest of the then
fledgling aquaculture industry in Southern Africa. The
Association has since developed into a structure with
representation from the various sectors contributing towards
the aquaculture industry of the region, including marine
					species such as oysters, mussels, abalone and prawns;
freshwater species such as trout, catfish, tilapia,
ornamental fishes; as well as service providers such as feed
companies, equipment suppliers and veterinary services.

Aquaculture Institute of South AfricaDue to the need for bringing the Freshwater and Marine
Aquaculture sub-sectors closer, the name was soon thereafter
changed to the Aquaculture Institute of South Africa (AISA)
which operates as a non-profit organization in the fashion
of a “one-stop-shop”. AISA’s VISION is “To be a globally
competitive Aquaculture sector in the Western Cape and in
general in South Africa” and it’s MISSION is “To promote the
integrated development of a sustainable and equitable
Aquaculture sector for the Western Cape and in general for
					all South Africans”.

					Western Cape Tilapia Growers Association

was formed from like minded individuals that
have a passion for aquaculture and are keen to develop a

					tilapia culture
in the Western Cape. With very little data or working
tilapia farms it was decided to develop our own research
farm, analyze appropriate stock, research markets and bring
					together interested parties.
