The Wirrah Cod is also known as "Old Boot"
The Wirrah Cod is dark green/olive with numerous black-rimmed blue spots scattered all
over the body and fins. It is a compact rounded rish with a large mouth. The
skin is very thick.
The Wirrah Cod is caught on the coast and nearby offshore reefs of southern Queensland
and New South Wales. A closely related species occurs in Western Australia. It
grows to a length of about 50cm.
Not worth particularly fishing for, as the flesh is very tough and not particularly
good eating.
